Oil Minister Affirms Continuity of South Oil Marketing System after July 9

Khartoum - The Minister of Oil, Dr. Lual Achwek Deng, has affirmed continuity of the system being pursued for the marketing of south Sudan oil in the period after July 9 till reaching an agreement in this connection.


At a press conference he held Thursday at the Oil Club in Khartoum, the minister said that the oil revenues after July 9 will go to the account of the Government of South Sudan in the New York-based City Bank.

Dr. Deng said that the marketing of oil will be through tenders and the known scheduling if an agreement was achieved.

He said that the revenues of south Sudan oil after July 9 will go to the account of south Sudan government, adding that the fees for use of oil utilities in the north will be paid.

The minister said that there will commitment to honesty and transparency concerning the oil revenues, calling on the officials in South Sudan Government to face facts and to live up to their responsibilities without blaming other.s

Meanwhile, the Minister of Oil asserted the commitment of his ministry to put into action the decision of the First Vice-President and President of the Government of South Sudan, Salva Kiir, on dissolution of the committee which was set lately on south Sudan oil marketing.

The Minister affirmed that the interest of the two sides necessitates cooperation between them.

Meanwhile Minister of Petroleum Dr. Lual Deng Wednesday received a visiting Norwegian delegation from the Ministries of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation besides the Norwegian Agency for Development Cooperation.

Present in the meeting were State Minister at the Ministry of Petroleum, Ali Ahmed Osman, and the Secretary General of the Ministry Dr. Omer Mohamed Khair.

The Meeting discussed means of boosting cooperation between the two countries in domains of oil and training of Sudanese cadres to bring about sustainable development in the Sudan.

The meeting further reviewed in details the joint cooperation document, expected to be signed Thursday at the Oil House.
